IT Services

The troubleshooters at TAC are Naomi and Kayla.  Jillian and Sherrri have access to submit a ticket.
Chris Maynard is the IT Tech assigned to TAC.

Operations

The most fascinating thing I learned is that fish, in fact, can talk - say "dam."  The most amazing thing I learned about CCPL is the large number of computers that it maintains.

Outreach Services

Programming is important because it provides another layer of service to library patrons as well as inviting non-patrons into our branches and other spaces.  These programs provide a wide range of opportunities that may otherwise not be available to all.  Some are simply for pleasure and others provide a learning opportunity.  All are open to everyone (depending on age), free of charge.

Interlibrary Loan

I booked the small meeting room at the Taneytown Branch from the public website.  It was wonderfully simple, thanks to the clear step by step directions provided.  Cancelling the room was even easier:  I called the Interlibrary Loan office and they did it for me!

Teamwork

The Celebrating America Committee is comprised of representatives from each branch and Administration.  Its charge appears to be staying abreast of Celebrating America events so it can then communicate this information to the branches and collaborates with CCPL groups and staff so the library continues to be a contributing partner to these "celebrations."

Communications

It was helpful to see the myriad ways that the Communications staff and the rest of the CCPL team markets the library (and all its offerings) to keep it a "top of mind" community destination.

I saw how to enter a new program into the system and will know where to find the information if I need to enter one.

Challenges to Library Materials

My manager mentioned a book Getting Off: A Novel of Sex and Violence by Lawrence Block.  Apparently it had been face out on the shelf and a customer complained that it was inappropriate.  While the book was not pulled, we discussed being mindful when merchandising material and straightening shelves.  We also discussed the idea that everything in a library does not appeal to everyone and patrons need to choose what they and their families want to borrow.
